The art of PR is to keep the conversation real by Joe Vangieri

Social Media is conversation. The art of PR is to keep the conversation real, and at the same time maintain the position of the client.

Conversation is interactive, more-or-less spontaneous, communication between two or more conversants. Interactivity occurs because contributions to a conversation are response reactions to what has previously been said.

Spontaneity occurs because a conversation must proceed, to some extent, and in some way, unpredictably. (Contrast with a scripted conversation, which falls outside this definition.) (However, the scope of that spontaneity may legitimately be somewhat pre-limited for the purpose of expediency, e.g. a blog post or a Twitter response.)

Conversations are sometimes the ideal form of communication, depending on the conversants' intended ends. There are competitors out there trying to spoil your message. This is done through a series of undermining your position over time from a "REAL" conversant. This is why you must maintain a real presence in conversation across Social Media for your brand.

Conversations may be ideal when, for example, each party desires a relatively equal exchange of information, or when one party desires to question the other.

For a successful conversation, the partners must achieve a workable balance of contributions. A successful conversation includes mutually interesting connections between the speakers or things that the speakers know. For this to happen, those engaging in conversation must find a topic matter relevant to the BRANDS position and on which they both can relate in some sense.

Joseph Vangieri on Core Messaging and Positioning

Core messaging and positioning  is more important than ever. Now that there’s a glut of information being created, it is crucial to have clear messages that further the conversation about your brand. I help companies improve their core messaging using a process that is collaborative and efficient. My core messaging services feature a series of interviews and documentation that provides comprehensive details of a your core messaging and competitive positioning.

Core messaging clearly and effectively engages the interested public in conversation this helps define what you do, and what you can do better. This is a conversation, it is two way, originate communication, get the public to understand your position, have them acknowledge your communication and deliver back a new origination . This is how  value is  delivered to existing and potential customers, and how you’re different/better from competitors. In other words, it engages the consumers in what you offer and why they should care. The goal of strong core messaging is capturing the attention of consumers so they participate in the conversation, This is social media.

Joseph Vangieri on PR from the very top "America a Culture of Death" Lets Start a Love Revolution

It seems the PR established by the Obama administration has established that America should take great pride in the death of Criminal. It seems odd to me and of very bad form to cheer for the death of another human no matter how foul he is/was. Is this the Change we voted for? Seems Obama is actually Bush the Third. He has established he favors war, fear, death; this is the Bush doctrine is there no good PR that comes out of Obamas camp?He is no liberal, he is Johnny Got Bucks Corporate swine singing for the man.

People were cheering, like an uneducated rabble. Singing the praises of a war like nation, the USA is now officially a war mongering bringer of death. This is the fact. We are fighting on 5 fronts. We have 900 military bases around the world, why? Pope John Paul called America the culture of death. Look to our TV, our music, our movies our video games, they are overwhelming about death.

I have a great idea, why don't we stop the wars and bring everyone home. Instead of killing everyone lets send in an army with food clothes and construction material for hospitals and schools. I think the countries would accept us with open arms and we can start the LOVE revolution. The LOVE revolution would cost a whole less money, save lives and do something for mankind.

Why not? seems all this killing and run away spending is destroying and not creating. Lets get to building not destroying. WE WANT REAL CHANGE.

Internet for the Common Man May 2011

I'm a somewhat up to date professional PR person involved in social media. Most of the time I feel ill-equipped to keep up with all the new information. Ive been trying to live the lifestyle, however the task is a bit daunting.

Ive joined Twitter, Linkedin, Google profile, blogspot and Wordpress. I have even set up a YouTube channel, the time it takes to keep your media updated takes most of your day. When can you find the time to get actual work done? Thats what I do at night now.

At home I ditched the TV cut the cable and now use Hulu and Netflicks for entertainment. I feel like the first time I watched color TV if you don't know what that means fuck-off.  For everyone that does give this a try. Dump the TV service and go all Internet based TV. The shows are all there and the net has so much more to offer. Baseball full season for $110- every game in the league!

Here is a good video that tells the story:

My new two favorite Interviews about PR in Social Media

I was searching around YouTube and found these gems.

Although some people are saying that social media outlets, such Twitter, have killed press releases, Victoria Harres Akers of PR Newswire believes just the opposite. As she explains to WebProNews, social media has actually enhanced press releases and all other aspects of public relations.

Here is another great video with Brian Solis. He is one of the best-known PR guys in the tech industry. He guest posts on TechCrunch, shows up at almost every industry event, and is well known and liked by most bloggers. We have a long conversation about Twitter and real time and how the world is changing due to the increased speed we're seeing. Distributed by Tubemogul.
Take the time and follow Tubemogul. This guy is awesome!

YouTube Remote App Lets Android Phones Control Videos On Other Devices

YouTube Leanback is designed to start playing a personalized feed of videos in full screen and in high definition as soon as you launch it. Sit back, relax and enjoy the show.
YouTube really wants to make it easier for you to transition video content smoothly between your various Internet-connected devices, be they televisions, mobile phones, laptops, or desktops.  To that end, they’ve announced the YouTube Remote App, a new app in the Android marketplace and is intended to let you “move” a video you’re enjoying on your phone to a larger device to get the big-screen experience.
Basically, YouTube Remote syncs your phone with YouTube Leanback.  You’ll need to be logged into your YouTube account with the app as well as with another device–your Google TV perhaps.  Then, you’ll be able to use the phone as a way of controlling the video on the larger screen.

Social media has changed so much of our daily routines and will continue to do so as more people embrace it. Statistics on social media are getting creepier by the days as we go about our daily lives. Here is a video that I found on Break, substantiating what I have mentioned above.
